| ESTA has been accepted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador. ESTA will be working with NOAA to improve the USA's readiness to deal with extreme weather, water, and climate events. This alliance was suggested by NOAA staff commenting on the ESTA/ESA draft standard, BSR ES1.7-20xx, Event Safety Requirements - Weather Preparedness. The draft offered for public review late last year echoes many of the safety planning measures recommended by NOAA for our industry. Working together, we can help to ensure that events can be safe, no matter what the weather. ESTA members and others in the entertainment industry are dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, which has forced the closing of entertainment and hospitality venues. However, the pandemic eventually will end, while extreme weather and climate change will always be with us. We need to be Weather-Ready when weather moves up the list of concerns for event producers, performers, workers, and attendees.
