- ANSI E1.42 – 2023, Entertainment Technology – Safety Standard for Entertainment Lifts. Stage and orchestra lifts are specifically excluded from ASME A17.1 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators. The previous version of E1.42 provided a reference standard for the design, manufacture, installation, and inspection of orchestra pit lifts. This revision expands scope to include stage lifts and other similar lifts. These lifts have widely varying requirements and operating conditions. Procedures for risk assessment and risk reduction have been added to accommodate these conditions.
- ANSI E1.44 – 2014 (R2019), Common Show File Exchange Format for Entertainment Industry Automation Control Systems - Stage Machinery. This standard addresses common show file requirements for automated stage machinery control systems used in entertainment venues. It establishes a minimum level of design and performance guidelines for the integrated software design of processor based machinery control equipment. The purpose of this guidance is to ensure that users will be able to transfer, modify and customize a 'least common denominator' show file for the data required to tour entertainment productions from one facility to another, even when the facilities' physical conditions, hoist inventories, and placements, and the machinery control consoles and data topology differ.
- ANSI E1.71 – 2023, Entertainment Technology – Powered Curtain Machines. This standard establishes requirements for the design, manufacture, installation, inspection, and maintenance of machines intended for the movement of curtains. Curtains operated by these machines may be for scenery, performance, presentation, acoustical dampening, museum exhibits, retail displays, and theatrical production. Specifically included are control systems, mechanical construction, and powertrain components of said machines.
- ANSI E1.72 – 2023, Powered Floor Machinery. This standard establishes requirements for the design, manufacture, installation, inspection, operation and maintenance of powered Stage Floor Machinery for performance, presentation, and theatrical production. It addresses the machinery, mechanisms, machine safety devices, and control interface requirements for equipment and systems, installed permanently or temporarily. Examples include wagons, turntables, treadmills, slip stages and trap covers.
