TSP PressProject Launched for a Standard on Permanent Followspot Positions2004-03-24 The Followspot Positon Working Group, part of ESTA's ANSI-accredited Technical Standards Program, has announced its first formal standards-drafting project. The project, BSR E1.28, Guidance on planning followspot positions in places of public assembly, is to address the problem of poorly designed followspot positions. Too often positions for followspots donít work because they are placed so that the followspots can't light the performers, something blocks the light, or there is little fall protection for the operator. The planned standard will give guidance to aid facilities planners in specifing followspot positions that work and that are reasonably safe. People and companies with a material interest in this followspt position project are invited to become involved, either by joining the Followspot Position Working Group or by participating in future public reviews of the draft standard. Membership in ESTA or any other organization is not a requirement for membership in the working group or for participation in the public reviews.
