BSR E1.23, Entertainment Technology--Design and Execution of Theatrical Fog Effects, is available for public review 2005-10-12BSR E1.23, Entertainment Technology — Design and Execution of Theatrical Fog Effects, is available for public review through 27 December 2005 at http://www.esta.org/tsp/documents/public_review_docs.php. (The review will be over at midnight UTC when 28 December starts.) It is designed to offer atmospheric effects creators and operators guidance in the planning and execution of theatrical fog effects so that the health and comfort of workers and spectators shall not be compromised by excessive exposure to chemicals or by the obscuration of hazards or safe paths of egress. In addition, the draft standard is intended to help avoid nuisance triggering of fire detection systems, while preserving adequate functioning of the systems. Reviewers are asked to see if the BSR E1.23 document gives adequate and accurate guidance, and also to identify any protected intellectual property they might see in the draft document. ESTA does not intend to publish any standard that contains protected intellectual property unless that property is required for technical reasons and can be licensed by anyone on a non-discriminatory basis for a reasonable fee. ESTA does not warrant that its standards contain no protected intellectual property.
The BSR E1.23 document is a projects of the Fog and Smoke Working Group, and the Rigging Working Group. Membership in the group is open to all who are affected by the work of the group, but the Fog & Smoke Working Group is actively seeking voting members in the interest categories of dealer/rental companies and users to better reflect the diversity of interests in the entertainment industry. Please visit http://www.esta.org/tsp/news/newsdetails.php?newsID=153 for more information about the working group, the under-represented interest categories, and how to join a working group.
